Janet A. Asiimwe
Janet is a registered Advocate of the High Court of Uganda; a Member of the Canadian Association for Refugee & Forced Migration Studies (CARFMS); writer http://outskirtspress.com/Theheartbeatofthehumanitarian. She speaks Fluent in English and four Local Ugandan languages, and is a beginner in the Arabic language. She is an expert in the areas of; Human rights, Humanitarian interventions (Protection & Women Rights), Democratic Governance & Development (Program Development & Management).
Janet has 13 years’ experience and individually or through organizational attachments undertaken various assignments in different organizations in Uganda, Switzerland, Zimbabwe and currently in Jordan as follows: Coordination of the Actionaid ARI regional Governance Cluster and advising the Emergency Response Program on Protection and Women rights programming & implementation; Did direct planning and implementation of the Women Rights & Gender Based Violence (GBV), Governance and Sustainable Livelihoods programs with Actionaid Uganda; Human Rights advocacy and capacity building with Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights in Zimbabwe; Supported the East African Center for Constitutional Development networking and advocacy efforts with the East African Community and African Union; worked with the UNHCR International Protection Department, Geneva, on protection mechanisms and quality control of the REF World 2006 among other things plus did several emergency response work while offering legal advice on protection of refugees to the of the Office of the Prime Minister, Uganda
